Rent-a-Racecar.net was founded to fill the void for people who “always wanted to drive a racecar, who do not have a track worthy car, want to “try a Formula car”, and or want to experience beautiful historic Virginia International Raceway in a relaxed and safe manner at a reasonable price.
We utilize 3 new Banshee 1600 Formula cars, fully race prepped Nissan SE-R’s, Mitsubishi 0Z’s and the owners’ personal Daytona Cobra Coupe and supercharged SVT Cobra.
Location

Carroll Shelby has declared, “One lap here is like a hundred at Watkins Glen.” You’ll have 4 track layouts ranging from the 1.65 mile, 12 turn South course, 2.25 mile 17 turn North course, 3.27 mile 17 turn Full course and the 4.1 mile 32 turn Grand course to drive depending on the day you schedule.

The Vehicles
F1600 Race Car
We have 3 formula 1600's that corner like they are on rails, sit 13/4 off the ground and run track times similar to v8's.These cars are fully adjustable to fit all driver sizes and are very forgiving.
Factory Five Racing Cobra Coupe
Factory Five Cobra Coupe... same power to weight ratio as a dodge viper, stops on a dime. You'll get your ride along in this car or the SVT Cobra.
Nissan Sentra se-r spec v
Nissan Sentra se-r Spec V. These are race prepped but on passenger car tires! These cars "talk to you" when you miss you mark but are difficult to loose control of.
Testimonials
John Foote retired fighter pilot – aviation instructor
Hot Dang!! The ride-a-long during my VIR Experience driving day was much the same as my first flight in a fighter jet, an F-86 Sabre. After a few laps, when I settled down, kind of, only then could I get a feel of how a good driver handles a great racetrack. “Max performance” turns done right require handling right up to the ragged edge! I have done many max performance turns in F-4 and F101 fighter jets but never quite so close to the surface of mother earth. Rent-a-racecar.net gave me the experience of a lifetime. I’ve made two good friends too.

What are my costs other than rental fees?
If you are enrolled in the VIR Experience there are no extra fees. If you are doing a Car Only Rental you are responsible for your track fees at the venue you drive at, VIR Club or other events.
What if I have a mechanical failure?
Rent A Racecar has 3 Formula Cars and a FFR Coupe in our rental fleet. If you miss all or part of your session due to a mechanical failure attributatle to Rent-a-Racecar. We will first try to provide you with an operational car from the remainder of the fleet. If they are unable to do so will refund all or a pro-rated portion of your rental fee as outlined in the Rental Agreement.
What if I damage the car?
You are responsible for any damage caused to the car while you are driving. This is regardless of fault. If you are hit while you are on track by another driver you are responsible for damages to the rental. Don't let this scare you too bad though as this rarely happens and is truly frowned upon by VIR Club. In the event that something does happen we outline all of the costs for labor and parts up front (see the Rental Agreement) for details. You are also responsible for mechanical damages that occur due to failure to monitor the gauges of misuse. You are also responsible for any damages you may cause to the facility. This is not included in your damage deposit and is to be handled solely between you and the organizing facility.
What about rain or bad weather?
We usually run rain or shine, as long as it is safe. So bring rain gear, that way it won't rain. During the 2005 track season at VIR Club only 3 sessions were lost to rain. If it is not safe we won't drive! We will do everything possible to reshedule your track time and rental.
What about the damage deposits/fees?
The damage deposits are outlined in each of the Rental Agreements. These deposits are truly what they imply. They are for damage that may occur to the vehicle while it is in your possesion. They are not used in any other manner. We will walk you through basic instruction on the car and review the car with you for damage prior to the rental period. This will be thoroughly documented on an inspection form to protect both you and Rent-a-Racecar. At the end of the rental period we will do the same thing noting any damage that may have occured right at the track after the rental period if possible. The prices for each item and the labor required to fix it will be clearly outlined at that time. If the damage is too extensive to assess at the end of the rental period you are welcome to come to our shop during the teardown process to witness any damages as they are discovered and documented. All damages/fees over and above the damage deposit must be paid in full within ten(10) days of official presentation of an itemized bill. Late payments are handled as outlined in the Rental Agreements. We truly don't want anything to happen and do not want to capitalize on anyone's misfortune.
