Introduction:

In 1996, its first year of operation, the American Racing Academy quickly established itself as the best formula school in the country. Even though it does not offer the convenience of multiple locations like other schools, the American Racing Academy offers state-of-the-art equipment, by far the best available at any formula school in America today. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway is also one of the newest and most modern motorsports facilities in the world, and at the American Racing Academy you will drive either the infield road course (1.2 miles) or outside road course (1.8 miles), both with 9 turns and very challenging race tracks. Other schools enroll as many as 28 students per program. The Academy program limits enrollment to about 12 students. This makes a huge difference in the amount of personal attention and track time each student receives.

The school offers half, one, two, three, four & five day programs in the computer equipped F2000 single seat race cars and BMW Z3 sports cars .

Data Acquisition:

The most advanced on-board computer system available.

Each car is equipped with the Stack ST8100 data acquisition system. This exceptional technology gathers and records extensive data as you drive. Data is downloaded to a PC and output on a printed graph, allowing for a more technical evaluation of the driver’s performance.

This information provides an accurate, graphic illustration which is used to evaluate your breaking, cornering and acceleration patterns. It provides a complete analysis of your on-track performance to help the instructor identify where driver and car are the fastest, as well as where improvements can be made. This same technique, is used by the most successful race car drivers around the world.

The seasoned pro as well as the beginning driver will learn new techniques, while gaining greater confidence and skill.

F2000 Race Car

I could not find a racing car suitable or safe enough for The American Racing Academy, so I had one designed and built from the ground up. Our unique formula 2000 race cars incorporate the most sophisticated construction technology for driver safety of any instructional school formula car in the world.

F2000 Specifications:

Engine: 2-liter overhead cam, 4-cylinder design developing 135 horsepower.
Weight: 1100 pounds.
Gearbox: 4-speed transaxle design with racing straight cut gears.
Tires: Radial tires are used for all students. Racing slicks are available for advanced drivers.
Performance: Capable of 1.5 g through the turns, top speed 135 mph.
Chassis: Tig welded, steel tube, incorporating chro-moly monocoque-type construction with intrusion panels.
Body: Three-piece aerodynamically correct body work, with wings, similar to top formula cars.
Brakes: Four-piston aluminum calipers acting on cast iron rotors. Adjustable front/rear bias.
Steering: Custom-made rack and pinion for precise action and extended use.
Suspension: Four wheel independent, dual unequal length A-arms. Adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars.

BMW Z3

American Racing Academy BMW Z3 The world-renowned quality, workmanship and performance of BMW has found a perfect partner in the American Racing Academy. Through our use of the BMW Z3 Roadster, the Academy is able to show proper driving technique and car control, whether it be for the highway or in preparation for the racetrack. These cars really move- both in a straight line and especially in the corners.

All the roadsters are equipped with Dinan racing suspensions and engine computer chip upgrades. In addition, they all have four-point roll bars and four point racing harnesses to maximize safety.

Operator Terms & Conditions:

Notes: The operator's various policies are spelled out below. Please make sure you read and understand them before you make your final purchase decision.

All program dates have been confirmed but are subject to change due to circumstances beyond the operator's control.

Qualifications:

Drivers must be 16 years of age or older, with a valid drivers license.

Drivers as young as 13 may participate, if they have racing experience (must be Ok'd by school first).

All drivers must know how to operate a manual transmission (stick-shift).

Insurance:

Half day programs: insurance fee incl. in price, $1500 liability limit.
All other school programs (excluding Advanced Lapping days), insurance fee, $100/day, $3,000 limit.
Advanced lapping: $150/day, $5,000 limit.

Scheduling:

All programs must be pre paid in full at time of enrollment.

If you reschedule 30 days or more prior to your registered course, subject to a 10% fee.
No refunds at any time.
If you "No Show", there will be no refund of your paid costs, nor any application of paid costs toward rescheduling.

All courses will be held regardless of weather, except "extreme" conditions in the interest of safety. However, drivers must show up regardless of weather conditions, as final acessment on weather can only be made on that day. If the weather precludes the program from happening on that day, drivers will need to reschedule for a different day (at no fee on this case). No course fees will be refunded in this circumstance.
